In the 2023/2024 season, Jacob Abrahamse performed the role of Alfredo in the Brott Music Festival's production of Giuseppe Verdi’s La Traviata. Reviewing this performance, Opera Canada wrote that his “Alfredo was remarkable” and included “particularly stellar passages in his 'De’ miei bollenti spiriti; O mio rimorso!'" In concert, Abrahamse performed as the tenor soloist at Koerner Hall in the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir’s presentation of J. S. Bach’s Mass in B Minor. Large Stage Live deemed this performance “in every way, the finest B Minor Mass I have ever heard.” He also performed as the tenor soloist in G. F. Handel's Messiah with choir and orchestra at Toronto's St. James Cathedral, with members of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra in a benefit concert for the United Way, and with the Peterborough Singers. Abrahamse will join the Santa Fe Opera as an Apprentice Singer in the 2024 season.
In 2022, Abrahamse performed with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra at Roy Thomson Hall as the tenor soloist in Felix Mendelssohn's Elijah alongside baritone soloist Russell Braun.
Abrahamse has performed roles in operas composed by Dean Burry, Lloyd Burritt, and Abigail Richardson-Schulte. He made his operatic debut by creating the starring role of the Holy Child in the Dora Mavor Moore award-winning production of R. Murray Schafer's The Children's Crusade.
Abrahamse holds a Master of Arts from Trent University, a Bachelor of Music from the University of Toronto, a Lieutenant Governor's Award from the Province of Ontario and two Civic Awards from the City of Peterborough.
